FROM A WORLD WHERE THE SECRETS OF TIME TRAVEL HAVE BEEN UNLOCKED, THE TIME TRAVELER COMES TO US WITH STORIES OF THE PAST, THE FUTURE, AND BEYOND ...
Hey folks. Just came back from another exciting trip in my time traveling contraption. This time I decided to go back and visit 2001, a year most of us remember for the tragic events of the world trade center attack on the eleventh of September. The eleventh of September attack was a major tragedy of 2001 that will always be in our thoughts, unlike the death of then-slightly-famous R&B singer, Aaliyah; a news story that didn't seem to hold up to the test of time.

Unfortunately, Aaliyah's death, like her album sales, waned in the public interest years, weeks even, after it occurred. For those who may have forgotten, of which there are many, here's a quick refresher on this wonderful young artist's life.
Aali-( I married R. Kelly when I was 15)-yah was born in 1979. She got her first big break at the mere age of 4 on the wildly popular program, Star Search. Sadly though, she was beat out by upcoming comic, Sinbad (See- VH1's "Where are they now?").

After Star Search, Aaliyah became a recluse from her celebrity life and spent her time focussing on schoolwork. But she knew, no matter how hard she tried, she could not escape her passion for music. With the help of good friend, R. (Thank god there's no video evidence of what I did to that 15 year old I married) Kelly, Aaliyah put together her debut album titled "Age Aint Nothin' But a Number" which featured several hits including "Back and forth".

Aaliyah's debut album propelled her back into Hollywood where she met Joel Silver, co producer of 1980's "Xanadu". Silver, naturally blown away by Aaliyah's talent, landed her a role in a film titled "Queen of the Damned", the underrated sequel to the Christian Slater vehicle, "Interview With the Vampire".

Having already released a second record "One in a Million" she was well into finishing her third, self titled "Aaliyah". As she was flying home from a music video shoot in the Bahamas for her new album, her plane crashed shortly after leaving the runway, killing Aaliyah and some other people.
Such a tragic rags to riches story is oh so common in today's time. Which is probably why we forgot hers. Luckily, though, there are a few forces out there trying to re-ignite Alliyah's snuffed flame. Please take your time to visit www.aaliyah.com where you can read about the life of this artist time forgot. And on your way out, don't forget to stop by the Aaliyah store where you can pick up Aaliyah cell phone wall papers, or buy an Aaliyah purse complete with an actual photo of Aaliyah (before her death) printed on the side.
See you later... or sooner!
